ON THE WATER

Boating Raft-ups and Rendezvous

Boating get-togethers, called rendezvous and raft-ups, are at the heart of the Club’s popular boating activities. Chatham’s shifting sands sometimes breaks the activities into two areas: the East comprising the Chatham Harbor and Pleasant Bay; and the South comprising Stage Harbor and Nantucket Sound.

All members are welcome at all rendezvous and raft-ups, and reminders will be sent to all members. Boat owners are strongly encouraged to invite members who are not boat owners and members from the other areas.  Any members who would like to go to a rendezvous aboard a participating member’s boat should contact the appropriate Flotilla Commander.

Sailboat Racing

Monomoy Yacht Club along with Stage Harbor Marine and Stage Harbor Yacht Club, organizes and hosts informal sailboat races in Nantucket Sound.  In addition to owners racing their own boats, MYC members have been crewing.  Races will take place on one of several pre-set courses, depending on wind and weather.

We have hosted seminars on racing tactics, and will continue to include sailing and racing topics regularly in the MYC seminar program. Instructors are experienced MYC and Stage Harbor Yacht Club members.

Kayaking

The MYC Kayaking program organizes approximately six to eight easy to easy-intermediate, 3 to 5 mile kayak paddles each summer in the bays, ponds, rivers, and streams of Cape Cod, weather permitting.

Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs, i.e. life-vests) are required equipment.

Windsong Sailing

Windsong, the MYC’s 22 foot Cape Dory keel sailboat is available to ALL members of MYC to use, whether you are experienced or beginner.

The Windsong Committee, through coordination with skippers, will offer new or less experienced sailors on-the-water experience. On-water sailing lessons, combined with classroom learning, is a proven way to learn how to sail.
