Social ACTivitiesMYC prides itself on the many activities, especially social events, held throughout the entire year. Members can expect at least four major events each year, including the Commodore’s Luncheon and the annual Summer Beach Party. The entertainment committee arranges for a variety of creative gatherings and events, some are described below. Not all of our events are centered around food. The Club has ventured off to tour Battleship Cove in Fall River, experienced the ship simulator at Mass Maritime Academy and many other educational and interesting endeavors. Our site has a calendar that provides information about the multitude of events and allows members to register well in advance of any upcoming functions, some of which require a fee to attend. Some events are quickly sold out so it is beneficial to register for an event in a timely manner. |
Club House Parties / BYOB |
Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) cocktail parties are held monthly at the Club House, or in special locations. All parties typically are held on the 3rd Friday of each month from 5 until 7 pm. Additionally, special "Pop-up" BYOBs are added for special events. Guests are welcome, this is a great way for potential members to meet others and experience the spirit of the club. Bring an hors d’oeuvre to share. Glasses, ice and set ups are provided. Club House Parties are a great way to meet members! |
Summer Beach Party
Held at Harding's Beach on the Wednesday after Labor day, the Annual Summer Beach Party is a great way to end the summer. Special Events |
Special Events encompasses all the one-of-a-kind and/or new activities planned by both the Social committee and the Boating committee. The Special Events vary year to year and encompass a wide variety of activities with something for everyone to enjoy or explore. Many Special Events have limited capacity so you should sign up in a timely manner. Guests are welcome, but there may be preferential attendance for members. Events include the Lobster Roll Cruise, Golf Outing, BBQ & Bowling, Devil's Purse Brewery Outing, Trivia Night, Chatham Anglers Game and the Holiday Concert |
Commodore's Lunch |
| This social gathering is one of the highlights of the summer, members meet to hear from the Commodore while enjoying a wonderful meal in a seaside setting. New and past Commodores are introduced with a bagpipe flourish and the firing of our cannon. |
Commissioning Day |
| The Commissioning Day Ceremony kicks off the boating season for Monomoy Yacht Club. When the weather is good, the Commodores use the deck to officially open the boating season and to recognize those members who have “crossed the bar” in the past year. The Cannon is fired and the short ceremony is followed by refreshments in the clubhouse. Be sure to register your plans to attend. |
New Member Welcome Party |
| The New Member Welcome Party at the Club House provides an opportunity for the club officers and Board of Governors to welcome New Members, thank those who sponsor new members, and share information about club activities and events. The social event is sponsored by the Club. This is an event that requires you to sign-up and there is a cutoff so look for the invitation. |
